Last year’s Racing Post Trophy hero Crowded House will not be asked to run in the Coral Eclipse at Sandown on Saturday.

Last seen finishing sixth to Sea The Stars in the Investec Derby at Epsom, his stamina seemed to find him out that day and a drop back to 1m2f in Saturday’s feature seemed like an obvious idea.  However, connections will not run the horse against the dual classic winner, despite it being reported that he is in “tremendous form.”

Likely to be in the line up will be Breeders Cup Turf victor Conduit, Cima de Triomphe who actually beat Conduit last time out and Ballydoyle hopeful Rip Van Winkle, but Brien Meehan’s horse will be absent. 

Jamie McCalmont, the racing manager to the horse’s owner Paul Reddam said: "Plans are on hold for Crowded House at the moment. There are no problems with the horse and he is in tremendous form, but he won't going for the Eclipse."

With Sea The Stars missing Sunday’s Irish Derby, his inclusion in the Coral Eclipse seems almost certain and he will almost certainly go off favourite for the race.  He is a current best-priced evens with Coral, with the same company making Conduit 3/1 and Rip Van Winkle 9/2.
