Jockey Paddy Brennan is in upbeat mood ahead of this year’s Champion Hurdle, comparing his mount Khyber Kim to a Ferrari.

With the Cheltenham Festival looming Brennan is eyeing Grade One success with the superstar and is delighted that he has recorded back-to-back victories after a poor season last year.

After winning the Greatwood Hurdle on his seasonal debut Khyber Kim upset Celestial Halo and Punjabi with a victory in the Boylesports.com International at Cheltenham and Brennan has admitted he wouldn’t swap his horse for any other Champion Hurdle contender.

"We were lost with him last season and we were just trying everything to try and find out what was the right thing to do," said Brennan.

"I'd say what we did was wrong and a lot of our horses weren't right last season, but I've never known a horse change so much at home as he really believes in himself now.

"He won the Greatwood with 11st 9lb so that was a class performance and there was no fluke about his win over Celestial Halo and Medermit last time.

"It's a very open race but I wouldn't swap Khyber Kim for any other horse in the Champion Hurdle.

"He's a very light framed horse but he's very versatile with ground and I don't think it will be a problem for him however it is.

"He's proved now he can win back-to-back and I think he's very exciting.

"He's like a very fast car and is something you think about at night as he's got everything you want in a very exciting racehorse.

"If he was a car I'd say he was a Ferrari," he joked.
