Delegator Heads Betting For Irish Guineas – 9 Declared

The Brian Meehan trained Delegator heads a list of nine horses that have been declared for this Saturday’s Boylesports.com Irish 2000 Guineas at the Curragh. The English guineas runner-up is rated the 2-1 favourite by William Hill for the Irish equivalent

English 2000 Guineas winning trainer John Oxx has left Rayeni in the race, while Jim Bolger, who has never won the Irish 2000 guineas, has left Fergus McIver in the mile contest. 

Mastercraftsman, who finished fifth in the English Guineas, is one of four runners from the Ballydoyle yard. Drumbeat, Hail Caesar and Viceroy Of India complete Aidan O’Brien’s quartet of runners.

Richard Hannon’s Goffs Million winner Soul City and the Kevin Prendergast trained Recharge complete the line-up for the first classic of the Irish Flat season.

William Hill spokesman Tony Kenny “Delegator is entitled to be favourite for the race, but he’s been very uneasy in the market. He’s been friendless ever since we opened our book and as a result we’ve pushed him out from 6-4 to 2-1 for the Guineas” He continued “Mastercraftsman has been cut from 7-2 to 9-4 for the race and it wouldn’t be a massive surprise if was sent off favourite on Saturday”
