Aidan O’Brien will saddle Black Bear Island for the final time when he heads to America for the Secretariat Stakes at Arlington Park on Saturday.

The colt has been inconsistent for Ballydoyle since his Dante Stakes victory at York in May, letting the trial form down when he finished low down the field in the Investec Derby before a third place in the King Edward VII Stakes at Royal Ascot.

After a final disappointing start at Longchamp he was snapped up by American owners and will move to his new stable after his run at the weekend.

"Ten furlongs is probably his best trip if there is plenty of pace on for him," said Aidan O'Brien.

"He is a horse who likes a flat track and an even gallop, which is what he got at York in the Dante, which was probably his best performance.

"We think he will do well over there.”

Johnny Murtagh will ride before jetting back for the meeting at Tipperary on Sunday, where his mounts include the highly-touted Viscount Nelson in the Coolmore Hurricane Run Stakes.

Black Bear Island is the current 3/1 clear favourite for the race with Ladbrokes.
