Beverley plays host to a seven-race card on Thursday with the first event on the card – the Beverley Minster Claiming Stakes – due off at 2.10.

The advance going is forecast ‘Good to Soft’.

Race 1 (Beverley 2.10) Red Shadow looks to have a good chance in a bad race being one of the few in the field who genuinely acts on soft ground. We rate him a banker selection.

Race 2 (Beverley 2.40) C&D winner Codicil has his ideal conditions and is fancied to go well. Locally trained Sharp Sovereign looks the main danger.

Race 3 (Beverley 3.10) The Fun Crusher is interesting tackling soft ground for the first time and is open to significant improvement, whilst we also feel that Mark Johnston’s Jeu de Vivre is worthy of inclusion.

Race 4 (Beverley 3.45) In a tough seven-furlong handicap Johnston’s pair of Lady Macduff and Icelander, both A/W winners last time out, seem sure to be involved at the business end of the contest.

Race 5 (Beverley 4.20) Bollin Tommy, first time in a handicap and on his favoured soft ground, could go well for Tim Easterby in a tight affair. Also suggested though is Leicester runner-up, Party Line.

Race 6 (Beverley 4.55) Those with previous experience have shown only modest form so we row in with two newcomers from top yards in Swynmor and Bryer, and expect them to see us through to a winning dividend.
