Sir Michael Stoute’s Conduit remains on course for a tilt at the Qatar Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe at Longchamp on Sunday week, but Patkai will be out of action until next season after a setback.

Conduit is a 7/1 shot to land the Group 1 spectacular in Paris and after defeating Tartan Bearer and Ask in the King George this year connections will no doubt be excited about his chances of reversing Coral Eclipse form with Sea The Stars. 

Peter Reynolds, racing manager to owners Ballymacoll Stud said: "He's going to go there but I don't know what the ground is going to be like yet. There doesn't appear to be any rain there."

Meanwhile, the lightly raced Patkai has had running plans abandoned after running just three times this season.  After winning the Sagaro Stakes at Ascot, he finished second in Sandown's Henry II Stakes before Yeats proved to good in the Gold Cup.

"Patkai won't be racing again his year. He's had a problem for a little while, but I think he's getting better and we'll wait until next year to see him out," Peter Reynolds carried on.

"It's just been unfortunate Michael's had to give him the time off. Hopefully we can have him ready for next year and another crack at the Gold Cup."
