Bullet Train Investec Derby backers will be pleased to hear that the horse's Epsom plans will not be affected by the performance of Workforce in Thursday's Dante Stakes.

Both colts are owned by Prince Khalid Abdullah, with Bullet Train housed by Henry Cecil and Workforce trained by Sir Michael Stoute.

Workforce is 9/4 to win the Dante Stakes and is 7/1 Antepost to win the Derby, with Bullet Train currently 12/1 for the Derby.

"We discuss all these things and Henry has trained slightly more Derby winners than I have so I bow to him on all those sort of matters," said Abdullah's racing manager Teddy Grimthorpe.

"Generally Prince Khalid will have a good say in what goes or doesn't go.

"In terms of Bullet Train, we always rated him very highly and when he won his maiden at Yarmouth we hoped he would turn into a Derby horse, so it wasn't a great shock.

Whether Workforce wins the Dante or not, it won't affect his chances of running in the Derby greatly. If Henry wants to run, the Prince wouldn't stop him.

"We've done it before when Commander In Chief won the year Tenby was favourite (1993) so there is a precedent for that.

"I think the main thing is to judge it on its merits and Henry will want to be satisfied that the horse is good enough to do himself justice."
