Red Desire will tackle the 2010 Dubai World Cup.
Latest Japanese racing sensation Red Desire will take her chance in the Dubai World Cup after her scintillating victory in the Al Maktoum Challenge Round III race on Super Thursday.
The Dubai Sheema Classic had been the original plan for the filly but the lure of the $10million World Cup has proved too much to resist and she will take her chance in the Meydan showpiece on Saturday 27th March.
Red Desire put up an outstanding performance in a slow run race when coming from last to first on her UAE debut and the Japan Cup third will be looking to build on her victory in the trial.
Assistant trainer Takashi Saito explained: “We know there is a lot of excitement about Red Desire in Japan. The country has yet to win the World Cup and there will be many eyes following her progress as well as pressure.”
The superstar will be partnered by Christophe Soumillon and Saito continued: “We know it’s a tough race, but we are not worrying about other horses. We are concentrating on our filly and getting her to the start as sound and as fit as possible.
“This is a challenge for Red Desire. The way she finished in the Al Maktoum Challenge is typical, but actually in Japan there is one filly that can finish faster.”
