WA State election betting

James Smith - 11 Jul 2008

Another AUS$10,000.00 outright bet with leading bookmaker Centrebet has arrived for the incumbent Labor government ahead of the WA State election, scheduled for later this year.

Centrebet's media chief and political analyst Neil Evans said the Perth punter had staked $10,000 on Alan Carpenter's party at $1.22 to retain power, the bet coming just a couple of days after another suburban Perth client wagered $10,000.00 at $1.25!

"Big punters have seemingly decided there appears little or no way back for Troy Buswell's embattled Liberal team," Evans said.

Labor is now in to $1.20, while the Coalition has drifted to $4.00 - and is still friendless with punters! "To date, no-one wants the $4.00 about the Coalition, and of the near $30,000.00 in total we've taken so far, it's virtually all for the government! It will be very interesting to see what price it will take to draw some genuine Coalition support!"

WA STATE ELECTION - WINNER

$1.20    LABOR        (in from $1.22)
$4.00    COALITION    (out from $3.75)
