On the eve of the first US Presidential Debate between Barack Obama and John McCain, Victor Chandler are still a best priced 8/15 about a Democrat becoming the next President of the United States despite having a large liability on that very outcome.
“We feel that 8/15 is a fair price at the moment," said their political spokesman Dave Jenkins. "Obama is leading in the polls, but a lot can happen before the vote on November 4th, and we still feel it will be very close."
McCain had tried to call off the debate on Friday evening, because both he and Obama will be in talks on the economic situation with George Bush in Washington, but his suggestion fell on deaf ears.
"Obama is confident that he can win the day in the debates, so he wants to press home his advantage," added Jenkins. "Either way it will be fascinating to watch how they get on."
The firm laid a six-figure bet on the Democrats at 4/6 last week, and also laid another six-figure bet on Obama to be the next President at 5/4 earlier this year.
