Labour leader Iain Gray faces losing his East Lothian constituency in the imminent Scottish Elections, say bookmakers William Hill, who have shortened the odds that he will lose to the SNP’s David Berry from 7/1 to 5/1.

‘As the gamble on the SNP winning the Election has gathered pace so have the suggestions that even leader Iain Gray may not be secure in his own constituency – and thus far we haven’t taken a single bet of over £10 on him winning the seat’ said Hill’s spokesman Graham Sharpe.

THE SNP ARE NOW CLEAR FAVOURITES TO WIN THE SCOTTISH ELECTION AFTER HILLS CUT THEIR ODDS FROM 5/6 TO 4/9 AND LENGTHENED LABOUR FROM 5/6 TO 13/8 – THE FIRST TIME THEY HAVE BEEN ODDS AGAINST SINCE BETTING BEGAN.

‘Labour’s odds have gone into freefall and comparisons with Neil Kinnock’s disastrous Labour campaigns when he fell into the sea at Brighton in 1983 then staged a premature victory rally in 1987 are being made’ said Hill’s spokesman Graham Sharpe. ‘Support for Labour has virtually dried up while we are now taking four figure bets on the SNP – the largest so far is £1080 from a Paisley punter’

HILLS…TO WIN SCOTTISH ELECTION…..4/9 SNP; 13/8 LABOUR; 125/1 CONSERVATIVES; 125/1 LIB DEMS

HILLS…TO WIN EAST LOTHIAN CONSTITUENCY….1/9 Iain Gray (LAB); 5/1 David Berry (SNP); 100/1 Ettie Spencer (LD); 100/1 Derek Brownlee (Con)
