The British comedian was thwarted by 80-yer-old Rupert Murdoch's wife Wendi, who bolted to her husband's rescue and turned the shaving foam on the assailant, who had announced his intentions on twitter with this message minutes before the attack:

"It is a far better thing that I do now than I have ever done before #splat"

The incident over-shadowed Tuesday's hearing, where MPs grilled the CEO of News International and his son, James, over the News of the World phone hacking scandal which resulted in the Sunday newspaper closing after 168 years. It has also resulted in some very vocal criticisms of Marbles, with many feeling that it has deflected the attention from the serious nature of the allegations being levelled against the Murdochs.
