Paddy Power have pushed the odds on Senator David Norris becoming the next President of Ireland out to 6/1 from 5/1 after his appearance on Vincent Browne’s live debate on Tuesday night.
Labour candidate Michael D.Higgin’s on the other hand has shortened to 4/9 from 1/2 at Paddypower. Despite being fired with questions from Vincent Browne around his involvement with the IRA, Martin McGuinness’s odds remain stable as the 6/1 second favourite in the race for the Aras.
Fine Gael candidate Gay Mitchell is now 9/1 in the betting, followed by Mary Davis at 10/1, Dragon Sean Gallagher at 33/1 and Dana Rosemary Scallon last at 66/1.
Sharon McHugh, spokesperson for Paddy Power told Bettingpro: “As expected, Vincent gave all the Presidential candidates a good grilling. If our betting is anything to go by Michael D is the man to beat while comeback King David Norris appears to be losing his grip.”
Paddy Power are also quoting 200/1 on TV3’s no-nonsense broadcaster Vincent Browne becoming a future President of Ireland.
