This bet applies to either the purchase of spirits only or all alcohol beverages overall. But, while such a move might be some while off yet, the same cannot be said for future increases on the cost of alcohol in Ireland. Paddy Power are betting that there’ll be significant increas es in the forthcoming budget. It’s just 13/8 that spirits will be raised by 26c to 50c, 5/2 that the price of a pint will increase by between 4c and 6c and 2/1 that an extra 41-60c will be added to a standard bottle of wine. It’s also just 4/5 that a minimum price will be introduced on the sale of drink in supermarkets by the end of 2013. Spokesperson Sharon McHugh told Bettingpro.com: “This budget is guaranteed to raise spirits, unfortunately not in the way we’d like though.“It looks like drink will be hit once more but could Ireland go one step further and sign off on raising the drinking age?”Latest Paddy Power odds:Raise the age?2/1 Ireland’s legal drinking age to be raised to twenty-one before the end of 2015 (applies to spirits only or all alcoholic beverages overall)Hit the shops 4/5 A minimum price to be introduced on alcohol in supe rmarkets before the end of 2013Budget Increases How much will spirits go up by?
