Sinn Fein President has been cut from 10/1 to 4/1 after a flurry of bets

William Hill have slashed Gerry Adams’ from 10/1 to 4/1 to fail to win a seat in tomorrow’s Irish General Election following a flurry of wagers on the eve of the public vote.  The Sinn Fein President, who was as short as 1/50 to win one of the four seats in the Louth Constituency, has been pushed out to 1/7  to gain a seat in the  lilywhite county.

“Gerry Adams looked like a shoo-in for one of the Louth seats a fortnight ago,’ William Hill spokesman Tony Kenny told Bettingpro, “however, the controversy that has dogged his campaign in recent days looks to have stalled his sprint to the Dail. “

Elsewhere, Fine Gael have been cut from 5/1 to 7/2 to form the next government on their own and the party leader – Enda Kenny is now a 1/25 chance to become the next Taoiseach.

Fianna Fail and the Green Party, the current government partners, look certain to suffer hefty losses at the polling stations.  Fianna Fail are 6/4 to get less than 21 seats, while the Green Party are 4/7 to be wiped out completely.

“Enda Kenny is a stone wall certainty to be the next Taoiseach.” said the Hills spokesman, “The only question is will his party take sole charge of the country or will he be forced to negotiate a coalition with Labour.’
