George Galloway and his supporters have landed one of the biggest gambles in political betting history according to Ladbrokes. 

Following a relentless gamble which spread from the betting shops of Bradford to the entire country and further afield Galloway backers have woken up to collect up to £100,000 - the biggest payout in by-election history. 

Galloway was first quoted as a 33/1 outsider with Labour seemingly safe at 1/50 when he announced his intention to run but this didn't deter the bravest supporters who registered a series of maximum stake three figure bets at the price in betting shops in city. As the gamble built up steam, his odds were repeatedly slashed to 20/1, 10/1 and then eventually 5/1 as betting was suspended momentarily leaving bookies fearing the worst. 

Alex Donohue of Ladbrokes told Bettingpro: "Galloway has hit us for six. His supporters have pulled off a political gamble of epic proportions."

He added: "We naively assumed the money at big prices was an attempt to slash the odds for the campaign. We couldn't have been more wrong."

It's now 500/1 that the new MP for Bradford West ever becomes Prime Minister before 2030 and only 25/1 that he does any kind of cat impression in Parliament. Galloway is also just 6/4 to retain the seat at the General Election or win should it be redrawn.
