Key dates
Thursday 3rd January 2008:
Since 1972, the Iowa caucus has been the first major electoral event of the nominating process for President of the United States. The results of typically give a good indication as to what candidates we can expect to see run for Presidency for their respected Parties, although Hillary might disagree. Expect Iowa to kick-start the media frenzy leading up to the Presidential Election on Tuesday 4th November.

Tuesday 8th January 2008:
New Hampshire holds its Democratic and Republican primary elections.

Tuesday 15th January 2008:
Michigan holds its Democratic and Republican primary elections.

Saturday 19th January 2008:
South Carolina holds its Republican primary election. Senator John McCain’s performance will be closely watched in this State.

Saturday 26th January 2008:
South Carolina holds its Democratic primary election.

Tuesday 29th January 2008:
Florida holds its Democratic and Republican primary elections.

Tuesday 5th February 2008:
February 5th dubbed “Super Duper Tuesday”, will see 22 states hold primary contests. These states include: Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Kansas, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Missouri, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Tennessee, and Utah.

Saturday 9th February – Tuesday 3rd June 2008:
If no one has clinched the nomination by the 5th February, the remaining primaries will determine the nomination.

Monday 25th – Thursday 28th August 2008:
Democratic National Convention takes place in Denver, Colorado

Monday 1st – Thursday 4th September 2008:
Republican National Convention takes place in Minneapolis-St Paul, Minnesota.

Tuesday 4th November 2008:
US voters will elect a new President, Vice President, 435 members of the House of Representatives and 35 members of the 100 seat senate.
