Timoshenko Takes WPT Championship Title

21 year old becomes youngest WPT annual champion.

Yevgeniy “Jovial Gent” Timoshenko is just 21 years old. The winner of an Irish Poker Open preliminary title and an APT Macau Main Event became the youngest World Poker Tour annual championship by defeating a tough final table that included Scotty “The Prince of Poker” Nguyen and the WPT player of the year Bertrand “ElkY” Grospellier.

Timoshenko had the chip lead as the action got underway and never really looked back. He picked up several big pots and eliminated both Shannon Shorr and runner-up Ran Azor from the final table to lay claim to the $2,149,960 first place prize.

Here are the final standings:

1) Yevgeniy Timoshenko -- $2,149,960
2) Ran Azor -- $1,446,265
3) Bertrand Grospellier -- $776,245
4) Christian Harder -- $571,965
5) Shannon Shorr -- $408,550
6) Scotty Nguyen -- $285,985
