Phillip Conneller Wins PKR Live Tournament at Loose Cannon Club

Deanna Goodson

Phillip Conneller is better known for writing about than playing poker. A poker magazine editor, Conneller plays online at PKR.com under the moniker ‘escalope’. He bested a field of 150 players and earned $20,000 for taking down the online poker room’s first live tournament, which was played at London’s famous Loose Cannon Club in early November.

Conneller walked into the final table with roughly 219,000 chips. He won the title by hitting a runner-runner straight on the final hand with a 7-2 off-suit. Of course, it should be noted that he held a massive chip lead at the time. Conneller defeated Swedish player Henrik ‘Pokey85’ Eklund of Stockholm heads-up to take the title.
