Usain Bolt was 1/20 to win the 100m at the World Championships although the Jamaican had a false start in the final

Usain Bolt's shock false start has saved bookies according to Ladbrokes.

Bolt looked a certainty at 1/20 to win the race having been backed from 2/5 to 1/5 before the heats but on a day of shocks his disqualification left backers adrift who were served further punishment when Mo Farrah could only manage second in the 10,000 metres. Farah is still odds-on (4/6) to win the 5000m.

Bolt is 14/1 for another false start in the 200m that he's a warm 1/20 to win.

Alex Donohue of Ladbrokes told Bettingpro: "Bolt was quite rightly backed like defeat wasn't an option. It's saved us a few quid but we can't help but feel like we got a lucky break."

He added:" He's a similarly short price to atone for defeat in the 200m. We'd be shocked if there was another false start but expect to see a few quid for it nonetheless."
