William Hill are betting on the London 2012 status of Ben Ainslie following an incident in Australia.

Following his rather bizarre confrontation of a media boat at the World Championships in Perth, William Hill are offering 66/1 that Ainslie’s Olympic invitation is rescinded.

However, he is currently the favourite with Hills to grab gold in the Finn Class at the 2012 Olympics at Even money. He is also 50/1 to win the 2012 BBC Sports personality of the year.

Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly told Bettingpro.com: “While maybe not the best of ideas to confront the media boat in the way in which he did, Ainslie is one of our top prospects for gold at London 2012 and we believe that it would be rash for him to be chucked out of Team GB on the back of this.”

Latest William Hill Odds on Ben Ainslie:

To win Gold medal in Finn class at 2012 Olympics: evens

To be de-selected from G.B team for London: 66/1

To Win BBC sports personality of the year in 2012: 50/1
