US doctors say Lindsey Vonn (12/1 withBetfred to win the women’s slalom) is heading in the right direction, as the skiing star looks to prove her fitness following a leg injury ahead of the Winter Olympics – which starts on Friday.

The multi-medal hope suffered bleeding in her muscles in her lower right leg and rest and pain-killers are the only treatment as she looks to keep her Olympic dream alive.

Vonn, who has nine World Cup wins this season, suffered the injury while training in Austria last week after falling over the front of her skis.

The 25-year-old USA (9/2 to top the medal table in Vancouver) star admitted earlier this week that she had “no idea” whether the injury would heal in time ahead of her first race on Sunday – the super-combined.

The American women’s alpine skiing team doctor, Bill Sterett is upbeat about Vonn’s chances of featuring in Vancouver, saying he expects her to be “100% ready”.
