Canada vs Slovakia Olympic Ice Hockey Semi-Final preview

Canada backed to crush Slovakia in Olympic semi-final

The Olympics are taking a little bit of a counter-intuitive twist for men's ice hockey.  Usually as you advance in a draw the calibre of your opponent increases in difficulty but for Canada in men's ice hockey their semifinal opponent looks much easier than their quarterfinal opponent.

Against Russia, Canada was about a -155 (about 2/3; all odds bet365) favorite before the first puck dropped. Now against Slovakia in the semifinal, Canada have the odds crushed in the betting market as the Canadians have come in as huge -900 favorites (1/9) while the Slovaks have only been given a slight chance to win.

The spread is the best place to go to get agreeable odds on this match-up as Canada are only considered to be -2.5 goal favorites with bet365.  The Canadians appear to be playing a team that they should be able to beat by 4 or 5 goals so backing Canada to cover the spread definitely looks like the pick here.
