Didier Cuche is considered the favorite with most, but Carlo Janka is a contender as well.

The medal event for Alpine Skiing Men's Downhill is scheduled for February 13th and it will be one of the first events of the 2010 Vancouver Olympics.

In this event there is no clear cut favorite but Didier Cuche does generally have the shortest odds (+350, 7/2; Boylesports).  Cuche is a Swiss Athlete who will be 36 years old later this year and he is best known for finishing tied for second place at the 1998 Nagano Olympics in Super-G, where he was awarded a silver medal as a result.

Recently, at the 2009 Val d'Isere World Championships, Cuche won a silver medal for placing behind John Kucera of Canada, an athlete who likely would be the favorite in  Vancouver if not for a fractured leg.

Manuel Osborne (+750, 15/2; bet365) and Bode Miller (+900, 9/1; Boylesports) are the secondary and tertiary favorites but our recommendation is Carlo Janka (+1200, 12/1; William Hill).

Janka, who is also Swiss, is much younger than Cuche as he is only 23 years old and he won Bronze at last year's World Championships.  He is capable of taking the gold medal in this event and we think he has a much better chance of doing that than his odds of +1200 imply.
