2012 London Olympics betting - 100 days to go specials

There are 100 days until the London Olympics
There are 100 days until the London Olympics begin and to celebrate Ladbrokes have priced up a number of 100/1 specials.

Any Olympian competing at this summer's Games is 100/1 to win eight gold medals according to Ladbrokes.

With just 100 days until the Olympics get under way, the bookies have priced up a series of 100/1 specials to mark the occasion, hopefully without piling on even more pressure to Team GB's athletes.

Michael Phelps' incredible haul of eight gold medals from Beijing 2008 broke Mark Spitz's record of seven from 1972, and it's 100/1 any Olympian from any country, and any event matches his record, or does the unthinkable and achieves nine golds.

Team GB's golden girl, Jessica Ennis, is favoured to add Olympic champion to her European and World titles and there's a 100/1 chance she romps home and wins by exactly 100 points in the Heptathlon.

Although they're expected to do well on home soil, Team GB will need to more than double (47) their total medal tally from Beijing in order to compete with China and the United States in chalking up 100 or more medals this summer.

However, the firm think it's a long shot (100/1) that any British athlete successfully pips Usain Bolt over the line in the Men's 100m final, or that any of our competitors break a world record on the track and field stage.

Despite not ever taking part in an Olympics it's 100/1 that Dereck Chisora and David Haye continue their spat ringside whilst supporting Team GB's boxers, but it's looking unlikely that every male and female boxer will win a medal in their respective event (100/1).

With any luck Andy Murray will be heading into the Games as the Wimbledon champion, and should he add a Men's singles gold medal to that (100/1) he would finally silence his critics and earn his place in the record books.

Jessica Bridge of Ladbrokes said: "Records are there to be broken, and this summer we hope Team GB prove us wrong and obliterate them. The pressure on our athletes is immense but patriotic punters all over Great Britain are getting stuck in and we're anticipating Olympic payouts left, right and centre."
