Melbourne Storm will be looking to shrug off the disappointment of not finishing top of the NRL ladder by defeating the South Sydney Rabbitohs and moving a step closer to the Grand Final.

AAMI Park will host Qualifying Final 2 between Melbourne Storm and the South Sydney Rabbitohs this Saturday.

The winner of this clash will have a week off and qualify for the Preliminary Finals which will leave them 80 minutes away from a Grand Final appearance. The loser, however, will play the following week against either Canberra Raiders or Cronulla Sharks.

Melbourne led the competition for a good few months, but a bad run of form saw them relinquish top spot and eventually the Minor Premiership to Canterbury Bulldogs.

Craig Bellamy’s Storm, who have been backed to the hilt by one punter as he has placed $25,000 on Melbourne winning the Grand Final, ended the 24 match campaign in second place with 38 points.

They head into the play-offs on the back of a convincing 26-6 win over Wests Tigers at Leichhardt Stadium with Sika Manu, Kevin Proctor, Bryan Norrie, Ryan Hoffman and Sisa Waqa all crossing for tries.

Souths should not be written off as coach Michael Maguire will have his Bunnies fired up for a game everyone believes is a four-gone conclusion with the Storm romping home.

This will no doubt be the tie of the round with third placed Souths looking to cause an upset and eventually prevent the Grand Final from being a top two affair.

Maguire’s Bunnies come into this game on the back of an 18-6 win over Newcastle Knights at Ausgrid Stadium Roy Asotasi, Greg Inglis and Darius Boyd crossing for four pointers.

Line handicap betting for this Qualifying Final sees the Bunnies handed a 3.5 head start at 1.94, while Melbourne -3.5 can be backed at 1.90.
