The NRL enters Round 23 this weekend with leaders Melbourne Storm looking to extend their lead even further.
League leaders Melbourne Storm have the opportunity to move a step closer to claiming the Minor Premiership when they travel to bottom club Gold Coast Titans on Saturday.
Melbourne are having an excellent season so far and they lead the competition with 38 points after picking up 17 wins from 20 matches, while the Titans have had a nightmare campaign with just five wins all season.
There are two matches being held on Friday with Wests Tigers looking to kick on following last week’s win over reigning Premiers St George Illawarra Dragons when they travel to Penrith Panthers, while North Queensland Cowboys will be hoping to move level on points with local rivals Brisbane Broncos when the two collide.
The other two matches on Saturday sees sixth take on seventh with New Zealand Warriors going up against Newcastle Knights, while second placed Manly Sea Eagles will be looking to put pressure on the Storm when they travel to Parramatta Eels.
The Dragons, who are in serious danger of losing both their Minor Premiership and NRL Grand Final titles, are aiming to end their three match winless run when they host last year’s runners-up Sydney Roosters, while Canberra Raiders and South Sydney Rabbitohs both lock horns with neither team looking like they will make the play-offs.
Round 23 comes to an end on Monday when Cronulla Sharks play host to a Canterbury Bulldogs side juts four points away from the top eight.
