The Penguins remain the favorite despite the thick competition in the Eastern Conference.
The Pittsburgh Penguins were practically tied with the Detroit Red Wings during the preseason as co-favorites to win the 2010 Stanley Cup. The Red Wings have now drifted to +2000 longshots while the Penguins have shortened to +450 (9/2). Here are your updated odds in the futures market to win the NHL's Stanley Cup for this season:
Pittsburgh Penguins, +450 (9/2),
SportingbetChicago Blackhawks, +600 (6/1),
Sky BetSan Jose Sharks, +600 (6/1),
Sky BetWashington Capitals, +700 (7/1),
SportingbetNew Jersey Devils, +1200 (12/1),

Stan JamesBuffalo Sabres, +2000 (20/1),
Stan JamesBoston Bruins, +2000 (20/1),
Stan JamesThe Colorado Avalanche, who currently lead their division, are completely below the radar at this point. They are priced at +3600 (36/1) with
Stan James and they are a good team to put just a little bit of icing on as they are not as bad as their odds suggest at all. That does mean they should be a favorite but perhaps their correct odds should be something like +1400 (14/1) to +1800 (18/1) instead of the long odds that are out there.
The Penguins are certainly a contender for the Cup and maybe they should be the favorite but they have yet to prove to anyone that they are better than either the New Jersey Devils or the Washington Capitals.
Those two teams are where the value is in the list above as they look like they are basically on par with Pittsburgh in the standings, yet the Devils and Capitals have longer odds.
Our recommendation at this point is to avoid Pittsburgh. We were recommending them earlier in the year but their odds have now shortened such that they are no longer the correct pick to make.
Bet against Pittsburgh with either Washington or New Jersey.
