Super Bowl 44 is almost here and the Super Bowl point spread appears to be locked in at -5.5 for the favored Colts at PlayersOnly

That spread may seem a little bit high especially considering the spread started out around four points. Money is flowing the way of the Indianapolis Colts and all signs point to the dollars continuing to move that way. The Saints have a high powered Offense and an opportunistic Defense, but they sure don’t seem to have the respect of the betting public.
There are many factors that have contributed to the Super Bowl spread being so high.

Handicappers have noted that the Saints have been so-so against the spread while the Colts have been very good. The Colts have also been very good against the spread while on the road while the Saints have struggled in this category. There is one other reason that Indianapolis is favored in this game - some dude named Peyton Manning and his experience in the Big Game.

The slightly inflated Superbowl spread is intriguing to say the least, especially now that Dwight Freeney is questionable. That should lead to some money flowing in on the Saints against the Superbowl spread as that is a big loss for the Colts. Combine that with the fact that the Saints have the highest scoring offense in the NFL and also boast the highest scoring Defense in the league, and it wouldn’t surprise me if the Super Bowl spread shifts back down a half a point.
The Super Bowl spread is something to keep your eye on for sure. If the line moves any higher, which I doubt, Indianapolis will have a tough time covering. And it is certainly not out of the realm of possibility that the Saints rally behind their underdog status and win this game outright.
