The emergence of Tim Tebow has been one of the biggest talking points of the 2011 NFL season, with Tebowmania sweeping across the world after he replaced Kyle Orton as the Broncos’ quarterback and went 7-1 run. That streak was brought to shuddering halt by the New England Patriots and Denver closed out the regular season on a three-game losing run, but that sequence did not prevent them from reaching post-season.

However, a fourth straight defeat is almost certainly on the cards with Pittsburgh the next team up at Mile High. Dick LeBeau’s defence has been on top of its game once again this season, finishing first overall and ninth against the run. And when it comes to the Denver offence, there is not much past the run. If they force Tebow to go to the air then this game will become a foregone conclusion.

Pittsburgh, who missed out on the second seed to Baltimore, are without running back Rashad Mendenhall and quarterback Ben Roethlisberger is battling an ankle problem, but not even that should prevent the Steelers from booking their place in the Divisional Playoff round. The bookmakers agree, making them 5/19 favourites while the Broncos are 10/3 to pull off an upset.

Isaac Redman is expected to carry the load for Pittsburgh in the absence of Mendenhall, and the Illinois product is 4/1 favourite to score the first touchdown of this match. Wide receivers Mike Wallace and Antonio Brown both enjoyed a fine regular season campaign as they each went for over 1,000 yards receiving, and the pair are 6/1 and 8/1 respectively in the first TD scorer market.

Wills McGahee will be vital to Denver’s chances of winning and the running back is 15/2 to score the game’s first touchdown. When Tebow has gone to the air his popular targets have been Eric Decker and Demaryius Thomas, and they are 16/1 and 14/1 to get score the first TD. Tebow himself has ran in six touchdowns and he can be backed at 9/1 to go in for the first one here.

It is worth noting that bookmaker Ladbrokes are offering enhanced odds on marquee markets of live TV NFL games all season long. This covers Money Line, Point Spread, Total Points, 1st Half Point Spread and 1st Half Totals.
