The most intriguing game of Wild Card weekend has to be Sunday’s showdown between the Atlanta Falcons and the New York Giants.

The Giants needed a week 17 win over the Dallas Cowboys to clinch the NFC East title and book their place in the post-season, while Atlanta, who fell at the first hurdle as number one seed last season, secured their passage into the post-season by finishing second in the NFC South.

The Giants will be relishing the fact that they are at home for another huge game this weekend, but their home form has not been too impressive this season with Tom Coughlin’s charges having gone 4-4 at the MetLife Stadium – 5-4 if you count the ‘road game’ against the New York Jets. The Falcons may be the ideal opponents, though, after going 4-4 on their travels this season.

Coughlin will be hoping running backs Ahmad Bradshaw and Brandon Jacobs finally deliver after a disappointing regular season. The Giants have relied heavily on their aerial threat and so far Eli Manning, Victor Cruz and Hakeem Nicks have delivered, but there is only so long a team can survive with a one-dimensional approach before they come unstuck.

Atlanta have also struggled with their running game and must find a way to get Michael Turner going in order to stop the fearsome Giants rush that will be baying for blood. Running back Turner may have rushed for 172 yards last time out, but that was against the lowly Tampa Bay Buccaneers and it was his first 100-yard plus game since Week 11. If Atlanta cannot get their rushing game off the ground it could be a long day for quarterback Matt Ryan as he holds onto the ball to give Roddy White and Julio Jones time to get open.

New York are 20/29 favourites to come out on top at the MetLife Stadium, with Atlanta 27/20 to return to Georgia with the ‘W’. This match is a tough one to call but the Giants’ rush should limit the Falcons’ aerial game and give Manning the chance to lead his team to victory, as he has done on several occasions this season.

Giants receivers Cruz and Nicks have combined for 16 touchdowns this season and they are 7/1 and 8/1 respectively to score the first TD in this match. Mario Manningham and Jake Ballard have each chipped in with four this season and are 16/1 to go in first here, while running backs Bradshaw and Jacobs are 6/1 and 8/1 respectively. For Atlanta, star receivers White and Jones are both 8/1 in this market, with running back Turner 11/2 and veteran tight end Tony Gonzalez 9/1.

It is worth noting that bookmaker Ladbrokes are offering enhanced odds on marquee markets of live TV NFL games all season long. This covers Money Line, Point Spread, Total Points, 1st Half Point Spread and 1st Half Totals.
