Sky Bet have slashed the odds of local hope Chris Harris winning Saturday’s British Speedway Grand Prix to 18/1 (from 33/1) after strong support this week.
The 2007 British GP winner goes into the weekend’s big race after scoring back-to-back maximums this week for Polish Division One outfit, Ostrow and Coventry.
Sky Bet’s Scott Springgay said: “Harris winning in 2007 cost us around £50k. All the early money this week has been for him so we’ll face another big payout should he translate his recent league form into this weekend’s GP.”
In contrast, fellow Brit, Scott Nicholl, has been friendless in the market at 50/1. Last year, Nicholl went into the British GP as a 12/1 frontrunner and reached the final but is struggling this season both in the GP series and the league.
As well as a range of British Grand Prix special markets and in-play betting on the outright and all 23 heats, Sky Bet are also offering four places on the race (1/5 of the odds for 1st four places).
British Grand Prix titleholder Jason Crump takes a 14 point lead in the Championship standings to the Millennium Stadium and is Sky Bet’s 7/4 favourite to land his third win at Cardiff and his fifth in the British Grand Prix. 2003 British GP winner Nicki Pedersen, who has not won a GP so far this season, is 11/2 third favourite behind Russian teenager, Emil Sajfutdinov (4/1).
