Visit your favourite bookmaker today and you’ll almost certainly find odds on a selection of upcoming fights. Most firms are happy to price up the Match Result weeks (sometimes months) in advance, especially as many are predicted to be fairly one-sided.

As you get nearer to the fight, you can expect additional markets to be created, which regularly offer up more value than the Match Result. The most popular is probably Round Betting, where you can bet on which boxer will win and in what round, eg Hatton in Round 4 or Calzaghe on points. Many punters like to back more than one selection to give them a greater chance of winning. For example, you might back Hatton to win in Rounds 3, 4 & 5.

Boxing also lends itself particularly well to In-Play betting and a lot of punters prefer to watch the first couple of rounds before striking a bet (providing both fighters are still on their feet!). A popular In-Play market is Total Rounds, where you usually have the option to bet Under or Over a certain number, eg 9.5.
