'Lucky numbers' net Irish punter almost €300,000

There may have been no winner of Saturday’s Irish Lotto jackpot but one lucky Dublin punter is waking up an awful lot richer this morning after turning a €12 bet on last nights Lottery draw into a life changing €280,762.

The punter placed their Lottery 'Lucky Numbers' bet in a Paddy Power shop in South Dublin yesterday and managed to click the final five numbers out of the drum in last night’s National Lottery draw.

The wager consisted of six separate €2 bets, three including the bonus number and three just on the first six numbers drawn at greater odds.

When the unchosen number 7 emerged as the first ball out in the Lotto draw, it looked like it would be case of business as usual, but then the emergence of number 36 began the remarkable run of five consecutive correct numbers, 36-12-3-21-26.

The treble of 3, 12 and 21 netted the lucky punter just €1,754, the addition of number 26 added another €19,004 and then the money shot of number 36 changed the punter’s life with a further €260,004 added to the pot.
