The weekend starts on Friday and live streaming sports fans have a number of football, rugby league and badminton matches to choose from.
While most of Europe’s attention is on the European Championships, football fans in Iceland will be taking in Friday night’s Landsbankadeild showdown between Stjarnan and Valur Reykjavik.
Both sides have made decent starts to the season to sit four points behind the top three after six rounds of fixtures, and they will both be looking for a victory that will keep them hot on the heels of the teams above them.
Over on the other side of the Atlantic, Boca Juniors and Universidad De Chile go head-to-head in the first leg of their Copa Libertadores semi-final tie. Boca Juniors were winners against Fluminense in the quarter-finals while Universidad de Chile beat Libertad, and the winners of this two-legged tie will meet either Corinthians or Santos in the final.
In domestic action there are games in Brazil and Argentina. Sao Paulo have made a mixed start to their Campeonato Brasileiro Serie A campaign with two wins and two draws from their first four games, and they will be looking to build on their win over Santos as they attempt to form some consistency. Up next for them are Coritiba, who have won just one and lost three of opening fixtures.
There are two games taking place in the Argentinian Primera Division, with Lanus meeting Union De Santa Fe and San Martin de San Juan facing Newell’s Old Boys. The biggest of the two fixtures is the second one, with Newell’s Old Boys just two points behind Clausura leaders Boca Juniors with two games to go. A win here would put them in the mix on the final day, with CA Tigre and Arsenal De Sarandii also in the title fight.
Aside from domestic football there are two crucial Group D games at Euro 2012 with co-hosts Ukraine looking to make it two from two when they take on France, while England need all three points against Sweden to boost their hopes of qualifying for the quarter-finals.
There are two matches from NRL Round 15 being streamed live online this Friday with the Dragons facing the Bulldogs and the Cowboys hosting the Broncos.
St George Illawarra Dragons will be looking to get their season back on track when they take on high-flying Canterbury Bulldogs on Friday.
St George Illawarra are currently outside the play-off places in ninth place and they will need to see off the in-form Bulldogs to have a chance of being in the mix come play-off time.
The Dragons should be fresh following last weekend’s bye and they always love to get one over on the Bulldogs.
The Bulldogs well and truly have NRL leaders Melbourne Storm in their sights and a win over the Dragons will make them believe they can be serious title contenders in 2012.
Canterbury are in third place on 18 points, six behind the Storm, and they should not be taken lightly - They are real dark horses to be in the Grand Final in October.
There is a fierce local derby taking place in the NRL this Friday with the North Queensland Cowboys playing host to the Brisbane Broncos.
The Cowboys’ form has dipped recently and they had slumped to eighth on the league rankings with seven wins and one bye from 13 matches.
The Cowboys come into this Round 15 clash on the back of a bye so they should be fresh and fired up for the visit of the Broncos.
Brisbane are going great guns in 2012 and they are currently second on the ladder, four points behind leaders Melbourne Storm, and although coach Anthony Griffin will be missing some key players he will still expect a solid performance from his guys.
The Broncos come into this game on the back of a 40-22 win at the Sydney Roosters with Peter Walace grabbing a try and six goals in the victory.
The BWF Super Series continues on Friday with the Indonesia Open. Home favourite Sony Dwi Kuncoro has booked his place in the quarter-finals and will go up against China’s Du Pengyu on Friday.
The 2012 Australia Goldfields Open qualifying continues on Friday with a number of matches being streamed live online, while there is also action from the ITTF World Tour Brazil Open.
