Football dominates the headlines on Friday with the start of the Apertura campaign in the Argentine Primera Division, while there is also live streaming matches from the NRL and numerous tennis tournaments.

The 20 teams in the Argentine Primera Division play two single round-robin tournaments each year. The first one is the Apertura which runs from August to December and the second one is the Clausura from February to June.
The Apertura campaign was won by Boca Juniors in 2011-12 who went through the whole campaign without losing a game. They won the title with a points total of 43 points after winning 12 and drawing seven of their 19 games and they will be looking to do that again this year.
The only game taking part on Friday is Clausura champions Arsenal de Sarandi and Union de Santa Fe at 2300 BST.
In the early hours of Friday morning there is a special friendly match taking place at the Home Depot Center with La Galaxy’s David Beckham facing up against his old club Real Madrid.
The former England midfielder joins fellow ex-Premier League stars Robbie Keane and Landon Donovan in the Galaxy side for this World Football Challenge match.
It is likely Galaxy coach Bruce Arena will start with a strong line-up before making changes at half time in order to rest players for the away match against Seattle Sounders on Sunday.
Real Madrid have taken a strong squad to California including Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema and Jose Callejon, who were among the scorers when Jose Mourinho’s side won a friendly between the teams 4-1 last year.
The NRL is close to reaching the play-offs and 2010 champions St George Illawarra take part in a must-win game if they are to reach the top eight in 2012.
The Dragons are currently in 11th place on 22 points, the same amount of points as eighth placed Gold Coast Titans, so they are not that far away.
They were in outstanding form last Friday when they defeated once runaway leaders Melbourne Storm 26-18 with winger Brett Morris helping himself to a hat-trick of tries.
The will need all the points this weekend against rivals Sydney Roosters to remain in the hunt for a top eight spot.
The Roosters, on the other hand, have worries of a different kind. If they continue to pick up defeats they could find themselves collecting the wooden spoon.
The Tri-Colours are currently in 14th spot on the 16 team ladder with 17 points, but an upturn in form by the Penrith Panthers and Parramatta Eels has the Chooks nervously looking over their shoulder.
Aside from the Olympics and football there is plenty of tennis action from the ATP & WTA Washinton, while the ITF Women Trnava and the Vancouver Challenger is also taking place.
