The French are now as big as 20/1 (VC Bet) to win the 2010 World Cup after being beaten 3-1 by Austria on Saturday. Les Bleus were looking to bounce back after a miserable Euro 2008 campaign in the summer, yet it appears as though a period of transition is on the cards for the 1998 winners of football's greatest prize. Nevertheless, they are 8/15 (William Hill) to beat Serbia on Wednesday, although the visitors will present a stern challenge and are 6/1 (Centrebet) to heap more misery on their opponents.

If you're looking for some banker material, Italy (1/8 Blue Square) should make short work of Georgia, while Spain are 1/10 (Ladbrokes) to beat Armenia, which is actually good value! A couple of other 'big names' that won't find the going as easy are Germany and Portugal, with the former a 4/7 chance (Ladbrokes) to win in Finland. They are full of goals after a 6-0 win in Liechtenstein, although this assignment should prove much trickier (although equally as fruitful).

The Portuguese host Denmark and might be worth avoiding, even at a best price of 4/7 (bet365). Carlos Queiroz's men slipped up on too many occasions when qualifying for Euro 2008, and the Danes are more than capable of keeping things tight and landing a point (5/2 Sporting Bet). Sweden, their Scandinavian counterparts, should be good for the three points at home to Hungary and are 8/15 (bet365) to land the spoils. A 0-0 draw in Albania was unacceptable and they will be fired up for this one.

Macedonia proved against Scotland that they're a tough nut to crack, and the Netherlands (8/15 Sporting Bet) will have to be at their best to win Wednesday's match. The home side are huge at 6/1 (William Hill) especially as their 1-0 win on Saturday could have been more emphatic, and it's well worth supporting them on the asian handicap with a +1 start. Ladbrokes go 4/5 for this bet.
