Rebecca Adlington is just 6/4 to win a gold medal at the London Olympics in 2012, according to Ladbrokes.

The 19-year-old, who is also 6/4 favourite to win the BBC Sports Personality of the Year award, became the country's first female champion in the pool in 48 years when she triumphed in the freestyle 400m, before then adding the 800m title.

Tom Daley is 4/1 to win gold, with BMX star Shenaze Reade 5/1, Phillips Idowu 10/1 and Zara Phillips 12/1.

Team GB are odds on at 4/7 to win more medals in London than they did in Beijing, but an unlikely 66/1 to top the medals table.

Ladbrokes spokesman Robin Hutchison said: "Interest in betting on 2012 is already very high and we are seeing money on sports punters do not normally get excited about. the Beijing bounce is going to be massive."
