Vic Venturi now 14/1 for Grand National Victory

Vic Venturi is now 14/1 joint second favourite for the Grand National with Betfred after producing today’s most impressive trial for the Aintree spectacular in the Bobbyjo Chase at Fairyhouse.

The 10-year-old, winner of the Becher Chase at the Merseyside track in November, beat his Dessie Hughes-trained stable companion Black Apalachi, who was cut to 16/1 for the National.

That duo stole the show as far as National clues were concerned after the big race at Haydock failed to yield a star performance from an Aintree entry, with Silver By Nature winning easily. Lucinda Russell’s grey is not in the National.

Betfred spokesman Jon Wilde said: “Both of Dessie Hughes’ hopes for the National have won the Becher Chase and they have to be considered live contenders for glory on April 10.”

Grand National odds: 10/1 Tricky Trickster, 14/1 Niche Market, Vic Venturi (from 25/1), 16/1 Big Fella Thanks, Black Apalachi (from 20/1), Possol, 20/1 Backstage, 25/1 bar.
