Donald McCain is thrilled with his leading Aintree Grand National hope Ballabriggs.

The trainer managed to lead Cloudy Lane into sixth place in the race in 2009 and he will be looking to land the world’s most prestigious steeplechase with Boylesports' former ante post favourite.

Ballabriggs lost his place at the head of the betting for the Merseyside marathon when he was turned over at short odds at Kelso earlier in the month and McCain explained: "Ballabriggs remains in good form and will have a gallop at a racecourse before Aintree to get him spot on.

"It is pleasing that there are seemingly a lot of other talking horses in the race, talking themselves up the betting, as this takes the pressure off us a bit."

McCain is also looking to send Peddlers Cross to Aintree for the Aintree Hurdle and he is likely to run Desert Cry in one of the Novice hurdles and Sagalyrique in the Topham Chase.
