American rookie Keegan Bradley holds a two-shot lead following the opening round of the WGC HSBC Champions.

The 25-year-old, winner of the USPGA Championship during the summer, shot a bogey-free seven-under-par round on Thursday to end the day two ahead of Bo Van Pelt (14/1 Paddy Power), Fredrik Jacobson (20/1 SkyBet) and Alex Noren (14/1 bet365).

Starting at the 10th Bradley (6/1 Ladbrokes) got off to a flier by making birdie at his first hole of the day, and he added another at the 14th before a 15-foot putt gave him eagle at the 18th. The American added three more birdies at the second, fifth and eighth and ensured there would be no bogey on his card by rescuing par at the ninth.

Van Pelt, Jacobson and Noren all ended the day five-under, with Englishman Justin Rose joining Thongchai Jaidee (60/1 StanJames), KJ Choi (16/1 Boylesports) and David Toms (25/1 Victor Chandler) on four-under. Rose (25/1 totesport) endured a rollercoaster round as two eagles, three birdies and three bogeys meant he ended the day tied for fifth place.

Former world number one Lee Westwood (9/1 Ladbrokes) shot an eagle, four birdies and three bogeys to complete his round in three-under, and the Englishman is joined on that score by the likes of Peter Hanson (33/1 SkyBet), Adam Scott (16/1 Ladbrokes), Graeme McDowell (50/1 SkyBet) and Martin Kaymer (20/1 Victor Chandler).

US Open champion Rory McIlroy (8/1 bet365) is two-under along with a number of players, including Paul Casey (55/1 SkyBet) and Ian Poulter (55/1 bet365). Darren Clarke (200/1 Paddy Power) is one-over following a round of 73, while newly-turned professional Tom Lewis is six-over following a miserable first day in Shanghai.
