Tiger Woods shoots a 69 to finish ahead of Bo Van Pelt and Adam Scott in the AT&T National
Tiger Woods’ renaissance continued on Sunday evening when the American produced a solid round of 69 to claim victory in the AT&T National.
Woods carded a 72 on the first day of the tournament to leave the 36-year-old playing catch-up, although he shot three sub-70 rounds between Friday and Sunday, with Bo Van Pelt finishing two shots behind.
Woods, who is also the National's host, said: "What an incredible week.
"Everybody, thank you for being patient with us. Yesterday was a silent day. I think everyone saved up for today. What an atmosphere to play in front of."
Woods immediately targeted more tournament wins after passing Nicklaus on the PGA list.
"I've had a pretty good career," he said. "To do it at 36, I feel like I have a lot of years ahead of me.
"I've had a number of good years in my career so far, and I feel like I've got a lot more ahead of me."
It was an odd tournament which featured no spectators on Saturday due to the storms in the mid-Atlantic which meant there were safety concerns surrounding the tournament.
Woods has now recorded 74 PGA Tour wins, with Sam Snead (82) the only man to achieve more during his career.
