Tiger Woods shot two last-gasp birdies to win the Chevron World Challenge and end a two-year drought.

The former long-time world number one looked like he was going to be pipped to the title by fellow American Zach Johnson on Sunday, but he turned back to clock to snatch the title with a 10-under total after four days of play.

A one-over-par third round meant Woods was playing catch-up at the start of the final day, but Johnson faltered during his front nine with three bogeys and two birdies, meaning Woods made the turn tied for the lead thanks to a birdie and a bogey.

Woods then went two in front thanks to back-to-back birdies at the 10th and 11th, but a bogey at the 12th allowed Johnson to pull level with a birdie at the 13th.

Johnson then edged ahead with his fourth birdie of the day at the par-five 16th, leaving Woods with it all to do. However, he rose to the challenge with birdies at the par-three 17th and par-four 18th, and Johnson could not find a reply.

Englishman Paul Casey shot a final-round 69 to finish third on five-under , while Hunter Mahan and Matt Kuchar shared fourth on four-under after both men carded final rounds of 71.
