Tiger Woods' Best Odds to Win the Masters

Tiger Woods is 4 strokes behind the leader at the 2010 Masters as everyone looks forward to the final round.

Here are the odds and standings for the 5 players still considered to be in the hunt for the 2010 US Masters:

Lee Westwood -12, +150 (3/2), sportingbet
Phil Mickelson -11, +150 (3/2), Paddy Power
Tiger Woods -8, +500 (5/1), Ladbrokes
KJ Choi -8, +1800 (18/1), extrabet
Fred Couples +5000 -7 (50/1), Ladbrokes

This market is highly volatile at the moment with all sportsbooks and the odds, more so than normal, are subject to change.  However if you are opening your betting at this point then you should not be betting Woods at +500.

Woods is capable of winning the Masters tomorrow but to do that he will have to satisfy 4 conditions at least: he will have to outgolf Choi by 1 stroke, Woods will have to beat Mickelson by 4, Woods will have to play at least as well as Couples, and last but certainly not least, Woods will have to beat Westwood by 5.  It could happen but even for a player of Tiger's calibre you wouldn't want to bet that at +500.

Even if Tiger had a huge day today and shot a -6, which in itself might be 5 to 1, Westwood or Mickelson could still reasonably end up better than -14 after they are finished and Woods would lose.  Tiger's probably done for and if so then he lost the tournament on day 2 where he only went 2 under as that's not a good enough pace to win the US Masters.
Choi, with the same score as Tiger at -8, is facing the same scenario as Woods.  However at least Choi's odds of +1800 make the risk worth the bet.  He's not the same talent as Tiger but so far at this Masters tournament they have played equally well and Choi's odds are worth sprinkling.
