Lee Westwood, Luke Donald and US Open Champion Rory McIlroy have all been heavily backed for next week’s Open Championship after Boylesports launched their unrivalled eight-place each-way betting terms.
The top three in the betting have seen non-stop support since the eight-place book was opened. by
Boylesports.
Victory at Royal St George’s for Lee Westwood, who is currently going well in the Open warm-up event, the Scottish Open, would be by far the costliest result for Boylesports, who have been forced to cut his odds from 10/1 to 8/1.
Even at this stage, a week before the start of the event, all three players would prove to be six-figure losers for the firm and continued support for the British trio is expected throughout next week.
Boylesports’ PR Spokesperson Nicola McGeady said: “Rory McIlroy’s US Open victory has breathed fresh life into this year’s Open and with him, Westwood and Donald, Great Britain looks to have its best chance of winning the tournament since Paul Lawrie in 1999.
“The way McIlroy is playing at the moment, we can’t see him being out of the first eight and, by the looks of it, neither can many of our clients.”
