English golfer Luke Donald produced seven birdies on Day Two of the US Masters, which have cost him a total of $35,000

Before the start of the 2011 US Masters, Luke Donald agreed to donate $5000 for every birdie that he made at Augusta to the Japanese Earthquake appeal and whilst the Englishman was delighted at producing a round that brought him back into contention in the year's first major, he was conscious of the cost of his success.

After shooting a second round 88, which move Donald to a halfway score of four under par, the world number three joked:

"I made seven (birdies) today. I'm a little out of pocket!"

Donald has now made a total of ten birdies this week at Augusta National, meaning that he has already raised $50,000 for the Japanese Earthquake appeal.

Luke Donald can currently be backed at 20/1, with bet365, to win the 2011 US Masters.
