Simon Dyson was recent winner on the European Tour and he could be the man to beat at Gleneagles this week.

The European Tour heads to Scotland this week for the Johnnie Walker Championship at Gleneagles. A strong field has assembled to take part in one of the leading events on the tour - on the course that will host the 2014 Ryder Cup.

Although Edoardo Molinari is the defending champion, it is his brother Francesco that is top of the betting this week at 16/1 with Unibet. Both brothers have struggled to regain the form that saw them experience successful seasons last year but Francesco has been the more consistent this season. He is still ranked 22nd in the world and was 3rd at this event last year even after a disastrous final round where he had seven bogeys.

Winning this tournament went a long way to getting Edoardo onto the 2010 Ryder Cup team but his form has dropped a lot since then and he is now ranked 50th in the world and is a big price of 39/1 to retain his trophy here.

A player who is having a terrific final stretch of the season is Simon Dyson who is priced at 19/1 this week and was 6th at this event last year. The Englishman’s form has really picked up over the last month, winning the Irish Open and putting in good performances at the WGC Bridgestone Invitational and the PGA Championship.

Another player who was playing well stateside recently was Anders Hansen who is offered at 24/1 this week. The Dane was the highest-placed European player at the PGA Championship, finishing just one shot outside the playoff contenders. Hansen is currently 6th in the Race to Dubai so he has been putting in good performances at tournaments all season long.

Further down the betting is George Coetzee at 39/1 with Unibet. He is a player who has impressed many after coming over from the Sunshine Tour and he has had some good showings in Europe with 3rd place finishes at the Scottish Open and the BMW International Open. Offered at the same price of Coetzee is Jeev Mikha Singh who has gotten hot over the last month. India’s greatest golfing export finished 6th at the Nordea Masters before leading the Irish Open for two days after shooting a fantastic 63 in his opening round. Singh is also coming off the back of top-20 at the Czech Open so he is still in good form.

When looking for some specialists who have the credentials to tackle this course, Richie Ramsey and Barry Lane stand out. Ramsey, offered at 50/1 this week, grew up Aberdeen with a great amateur career in Scotland and is coming off the back of a 12th place finish last week. Lane, who is priced at 149/1 with Unibet, successfully retained his Scottish Senior Open title last week at St. Andrews. The Englishman just recently turned 50 but he certainly has a knack for playing course in Scotland and could surprise a few this week.

Tip #1: Back Simon Dyson to win at 19/1 with Unibet.
Tip #2: Back Jeev Mikha Singh to win at 39/1 with Unibet.
Tip #3: Back Barry Lane to win at 149/1 with Unibet.
