(credit: Stuart Franklin/Getty Images) Related Articles See all European Tour news Share it Pin It Rory McIlroy shares a one-shot lead after the first round of the Hong Kong Open was suspended on Thursday.US Open winner McIlroy, who still hopes to catch Luke Donald in the Race to Dubai, shot a six-under-par round at Fanling to join Alvaro Quiros and David Horsey at the summit, just ahead of Miguel Angel Jimenez.Northern Irishman McIlroy, Englishman Horsey and Spaniard Quiros were all in fine form on day one as they shot bogey-free 64s. Both McIlroy and Horsey made six birdies while an eagle and five birdies did the job for Quiros, who ensured a share of the lead with a last-hole birdie.Hot on their heels is popular Spanish veteran Jimenez who made six birdies in this round of 65, but a bogey at the par-three 15th prevented him from making it a four-way tie at the top of the leaderboard.A short further back are Darren Beck and Gareth Maybin. Australian Beck overcame a bogey at the par-five second as five birdies left him four-under alongside Northern Irishman Maybin, who enjoyed a bogey-free 66 with four birdies.Padraig Harrington is well off the pace after shooting three birdies and three bogeys in a par-round, while Ian Poulter is one-over after making two bogeys and just one birdie.While the opening round was not quite finished on Thursday, only a handful of players still have holes to play and are unlikely to make a major impact on the leaderboard.
