The 2011 PGA Tour continues this week with the Chevron World Challenge at the Sherwood Country Club in California.

This years field is significantly weaker than the usual make up, which consists of the four Major winners, the top 11 available players from the World Rankings, the defending champion and two invites.

Of the 2011Major winners only Keegan Bradley 23.160 is playing this year, while Steve Stricker 17.110 is the highest ranked player at number six, while defending champion Graeme McDowell is not competing.

The reason is a conflict in tournaments as many top Europeans are playing in either the Nedbank Challenge or the Hong Kong Open in order to gain points for the Race to Dubai.

Tournament host and former world number one Tiger Woods 4.380 only just managed to qualify for this event after sneaking into the top 50, but is still a massive favourite to claim his fifth Chevron World Challenge title.

Despite a dreadfully disappointing two years, Woods looked back to his best in the Presidents Cup and Australian Open in November and will look to use this tournament as a springboard to propel himself up the rankings. Woods has shown glimpses over the past two weeks he is final over the injury to his left knee and Achilles tendon, which has been mirrored by the way he has played.

Elsewhere, Matt Kuchar 17.110 comes into the tournament on a high after his victory in the Omega Mission Hills World Cup. Expect the consistent American to continue his good form this week.

Australian Jason Day will be quietly confident of winning the Chevron World Challenge after a fantastic 2011. The youngster is offered at 17.110 to win the title on Sunday.

Webb Simpson 11.090 is the second favourite to take down the tournament this week after his explosive second half of the season. Simpson narrowly missed out on winning the money list title, and is arguably the worlds most in-form player.

Also competing are Nick Watney 17.110, Hunter Mahan 13.080, Paul Casey 19.120 and Ricky Fowler 21.150.
