Interestingly, more than half of the players in the top ten positions in the past two seasons have been South African.The weather will also play a key part in the 2012 Africa Open, as the past two years suggest.In 2010 it had been very dry leading up to the tournament meaning the ball was running hard and fast, and it was all about who holed the most putts.In comparison, last year saw a lot of rain in the run up to the event, and as a result there was much more reward for accurate play.With this in mind it would suggest that if the course is wet, you can expect to see the longest and straightest hitters prevail. But if it is dry, the course will favour the best putters.This year’s event will also be key for The European Tour players looking to strengthen their positions for The 2012 Ryder Cup points list.
